Idea Title: Dismantling the DOE
Idea:
I am pleased knowing that our President is looking to dismantle the DOE and give it back to the states. Also, with the confirmation with RFK Jr., we need to look at the types of food that is going into our schools and the amount of time students are getting to be outside. We should provide each school with stipends or grant money in order to create an onsite garden or provide resources where students are able to grow their own food/ take a nutrition class. Along with looking at “recess” time, to get the students outside more. In Japan at the elementary school level, after each 45-minute class, students go outside for 15 minutes, then when the transition bell went off the first time it was their cue to come back inside, and then by the time the second bell went off they were starting the next lesson. Not to mention they cooked and served their own lunches every day.
